Reporting into the Commercial Manager, the role of a Commercial Accountant is an important one within the team. It is expected that this person will have strong financial and analytical skills, an inquisitive mind and will possess strong communication skills with the ability to adapt their communication style appropriately when dealing with Finance and Non-Finance colleagues. A flexible, can-do attitude coupled with the ability to manage and motivate one member of staff.
Project / Management Accounting To support the incumbent Commercial Manager with the preparation of client budget reconciliations for 'final' review with both the Commercial Manager and the relevant Account Manager/s. To ensure that all reconciliations are completed within a maximum eight-week period (or to give early notice to Account Manager and Commercial Manager where and why this is not possible). Weekly work-in-progress reviews. Liaise with various projects team members during the 'life' of any project and to report on the financial health of these projects. Ensure that all financials are aligned with any relevant client contract requirements and stipulations. Assist with revenue recognition and reporting. Preparation of ad-hoc project financial reports and information requested by Commercial Manager Senior Management. Prepare monthly and quarterly financial updates as required by client, ensuring approval by Commercial Manager and relevant Senior Account Team Manager/s before submission. General Input of monthly revenue updates to ACCESS database (MIST). Arrange weekly catch up / status meeting with Commercial Manager. To provide ad-hoc management information regarding project financials, including time vs. revenue analyses. Provide support with the Maconomy accounting system to the Account team and other non-finance dept staff. Raising sales invoices to external and interco clients. Data Entry into Maconomy as part of system roll-out. Management * The position is supported by a Commercial Accountant. It is expected that all day-to-day management and close supervision will be required. The ability to create a 'team' environment is required as some work tasks will at times be 'shared' by both.
Extensive WIP and job reconciliation experience * Revenue/time analysis and reporting experience * Extensive accounting system experience (Maconomy preferred but not essential) * Strong Microsoft Office skills (Intermediate Excel, Word) * Self Motivated and able to work within a team environment * Must have sound Financial and Commercial experience, preferably gained from working in a similar role within the same industry * Excellent inter-personal skills and be comfortable dealing with clients and senior team members * Strong organisational skills and great attention to detail
