Our client is a global tier 1 investment bank which seeks an AVP to join their Group Capital Management function which is part of the wider treasury group.
The capital management team is responsible for managing the Bank's Solvency and Leverage ratios to ensure the Bank is well positioned externally and efficiently deploys its resources internally. This team has been growing in size and responsibility in response to the increasing level of scrutiny from regulators and senior management on the banks utilisation of its financial resources.
As an AVP in this team, your role will be to focus principally on the corporate banking and securities businesses, but you will cover all resources which are managed by the Capital team (capital supply, risk weighed asset demand, leverage demand, and the underlying balance sheet).
This role focuses principally on CB&S business, but covers all resources which Group Capital Management manages (Capital supply, RWA demand, Leverage demand, plus the underlying balance sheet).
The remit is to provide transparency as to where resource is, or will be, deployed and based on that understanding to identify and inform areas where management attention is required.
Co-ordinating plan / re-forecasts and challenging / drilling into intended resource deployment (What & Why) Liaise with business to facilitate formal and informal information flow about the investment / disinvestment actions (How) Qualitative overlay of execution risk, efficiency, deployment decisions etc Sensitivity or scenario analysis to highlight what might threaten divisional plan execution (and therefore group) Measure efficiency of € of resource deployed across capital / leverage / balance sheet resources Analyse potential areas for incremental or step change resource reductions Prepare updates to senior management committees, to business management as well as to Regulators
Candidates should be operating at AVP or equivalent level at another investment bank, with experience of building relationships and liaising with Business / Finance / Risk, and significant expertise in current financial resource regulation or expertise in investment banking products and business model.
