Job Description
A medical research charity is seeking a Director of Finance and Corporate Services for their Executive Team.

We are looking for a qualified finance professional with experience working at senior management or executive level, preferably within the charity sector.

As a key member of the Executive and Senior Management Teams, the Director of Finance and Corporate Services contributes to the growth, development and sustainability of the organisation and plays a key role in strategy formation. The Director is the leading interface between management and Trustees on financial matters.

The Director of Finance and Corporate Services has responsibility for:

*Financial Control (management accounts, budgets, process and procedure)
*Essential Infrastructure (IT, London office, property)
*Legal and company secretarial matters (contracts, suppliers, governance, Data Protection, Health and Safety, Charity Commission)

Key areas of responsibility include:


*Assist the Board of Trustees, Chief Executive and senior management in the strategic development of the organisation's charitable business and all major growth initiatives
*Ensure the appropriate vision, policies and processes are in place to ensure the
long-term financial sustainability of the charity and advising the Chief Executive on the financial consequences on proposed actions and inactions.
*Foster financial and commercial strength across all areas of the charity by giving advice, support and training
*Advise on the business and financial implications of proposed major new projects, new services and partnerships
Financial Control:
*Ensure all monthly, quarterly and annual financial information is available on a timely basis and is produced to the highest standard. Proactively develop financial reporting to meet the organisation's needs.
*Manage the charity's investments and cash including forecasting and monitoring cashflow
*Identify, measure and report on key performance indicators
*Manage a team of four

Essential Infrastructure:

*Ensure smooth administration and effective office procedures including responsibility for health and safety, fire safety and similar regulations
*Manage and develop all IT resources in conjunction with the external service providers
*Develop and implement property strategy for the organisation across the UK
*Manage an Office Manager

Legal Regulatory and Company Secretarial:

*Manage all legal matters including contracts, supplier relations, insurance, complaints, disputes and litigation
*Manage all risk assessment and management activities including maintaining the risk register and business continuity plan
*Work with Director of Fundraising to ensure the organisation proactively meets all requirements of existing and new fundraising regulators.
*Lead on Data Protection, ensuring appropriate processes are in place to maintain confidentiality and security of data.
*Deputise for the Chief Executive as required from time to time

This role is well suited to someone who is able to work independently with minimum supervision but also a strong team player. You must be able to demonstrate a creative and innovative approach to dealing with issues and problem solving. This is also a role for someone ambitious who is keen to grow their own skills and develop professionally.
