Goodman Masson are pleased to be working exclusively with a prestigious Museum in London, who are looking to recruit a Financial Accountant to join their team. This an excellent role that offers the chance to develop within a well-known organisation and get involved in large scale projects.
In this role you will work closely with the Financial Controller and Project Accountant to deliver effective financial and systems accounting to the organisation in accordance with Charity SORP and FRS102. Key elements of the role will include review and analysis of process for the systems implementation, in order to develop strategies for improvements and deriving further benefits.
Responsibilities: * You will work to agreed schedules to produce all schedules, reconciliations and supporting information as required for audit purposes * Responsible for the month end period close, including all required reconciliations (including VAT, Bank, Payroll, Intercompany and others), journals and reporting * To develop and maintain effective control systems and procedures to ensure that the museum complies with financial regulations and with internal and external audit recommendations * To develop effective financial systems and processes to optimise usage of current financial systems (Exchequer) and any future financial systems the Group may use * To produce Group cash flow forecasts and monitor cash flows * To produce VAT returns as required and corporation tax information and analysis for the completion of the relevant returns * To support the Management Accounts and Head of Finance by undertaking specific projects and financial systems work Person Specification: * Qualified, part-qualified (ACCA, CIMA, ACA etc) accountant. Candidates qualified-by-experience will also be considered. * Proven financial accounting experience, including producing VAT returns. * Advanced excel skills (modelling, pivot tables, v-lookup) * Experience assessing the effectiveness of finance systems and delivering improved processes * Excellent oral and written English and ability to communicate complex information to non-finance staff * Self-motivated with an attention to detail
