Purchase Ledger & Cashbook

Farnham, Surrey

£18000 - £20000 + 22d holiday, rising, pension, healthcare or perk box, cycle to work, car share and childcare voucher schemes, support with qualifications / studies. Hours: 8.30am - 5.30pm (M-T) 8.30am - 5.00pm (Fri)

An Accounts Assistant is required to manager the purchase ledger and ensure the cashbook is maintained and reconciled. This organisation likes people who are positive, ambitious and want to develop their careers.

Essential Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

  • Reconciliation experience

  • General Accounts experience, preferably with some purchase ledger or cashbook experience

  • Highly numerate with excellent IT skills, especially Excel

  • Confident telephone manner


  • Studying for AAT and/or CICM

  • Experience of Pegasus and XRL

Duties will include:

Purchase Ledger

  • Process all invoices onto Pegasus, ensuring Purchase Orders are raised, and invoices authorised

  • Prepare weekly suggested payment list for review by the Financial Controller

  • Check supplier statements and invoices reconcile to statement, chasing any missing invoices

  • Reconcile the trade creditors on a monthly basis

  • Carry out a six monthly review that all suppliers have a valid VAT number and to report any invalid VAT numbers

Cashbook and Bank Reconciliations

  • Download daily bank statements and update Bank Reconciliation spreadsheet with transactions, ensuring it reconciles to the bank balance

  • Post receipts and payments onto Pegasus daily

  • Provide daily reconciliation of current bank account and weekly and monthly reconciliations of all other bank accounts

  • Provide reconciliations of the discrepancy accounts and the un-reconciled items on a monthly basis

  • Update the cash forecasts with the actuals for the previous day and perform variance analysis
